I feel like I should hashtag that: #BlogGoals.
It’s been a while since I have made any blogging goals. Actually, for the past year or so I have been writing sporadically and publishing even less. I have many, many posts started that I have never published, for the most part because I deemed them “not good enough.” So they languished, forgotten in the electronic folders of my dashboard. The truth is, I have started more posts than I have finished over the past year.
But that has changed recently.
The blog has been an uncharacteristically busy place lately, and I just wanted to fill you in on what’s going on.
If you subscribe to the blog or follow me on Facebook or Twitter – do you?? If not, you should – you may have noticed a lot of posts being published recently. That’s a big change from publishing a post every week or two.
I want to change that. Writers write; bloggers blog.
So why don’t I just do it?
Well, I am. I am doing it.
A couple of weeks ago, I saw a blogger I admire suggest a 30-day writing challenge for the month of September.
I hesitated. Agreeing to not only write, but POST – actually hit the publish button – every day during them month of September was a BIG leap for me. I immediately started thinking about excuses why I couldn’t do it.
It’s such a busy time of year…
We’re just getting into a new routine…
The boys are only home for a few more days. I want to focus on them…
(I’m good with the excuses.)
But, at the same time, part of me got really excited. Writing again! Publishing! Interacting online! Meeting other bloggers!
I missed writing. I missed blogging. It’s mine in a way that nothing else is.
So I said yes.
I needed to jump in, switch gears, get a kick in the blogging pants, if you will.
This is big for me, since my usual goals for September include not sleeping in, squeezing in some exercise, and remembering to make lunches for the boys.
This September, I am going to do all those things, and I am going to polish up some posts I have been working on, and write some new content too. Some posts might be short, some might be photographs and a few words, some might be funny or silly. But they will be mine. My words and my thoughts and my photos, on the page. They will be good enough.
I hope you don’t get sick of me.
What are your September goals?
