This week’s Monday Listicles topic was suggested by Ally from Just a Normal Mom: 10 best movie quotes.
I love me some movie quotes. Co-Pilot Dad and I have many, many quotes that are long-running jokes with us. Just one word is all it takes and one of us will immediately know what the other is thinking. Then suddenly we are quoting entire scenes of movies. (Yeah, we’re quirky and entertaining like that.)
Here are some of the quotes in our repertoire:
1.

2. “There’s no crying in baseball!” – A League of Their Own
3. “Verify range to target. One ping only.” – The Hunt for Red October (I wrote a post about this one.)
4. “Farm boy, fetch me that pitcher.”
“As you wish.” – The Princess Bride (We actually have an entire collection of quotes from The Princess Bride.)
5. “Adventure. -heh- Excitement. -heh- A Jedi craves not these things. You are reckless!” – The Empire Strikes Back (We also have an extensive Star Wars quote catalog – although my Yoda voice stinks.)
6. “In the words of David Cassidy, in fact, while he was still with the Partridge Family, ‘I think I love you.’” – Four Weddings and a Funeral
7. “Just keep swimming, just keep swimming, just keep swimming, swimming, swimming.” – Finding Nemo (This one works best said in song.)
8. “Love is a many splendored thing, love lifts us up where we belong, all you need is love.” – Moulin Rouge
9.

(We both loved 90s SNL – another large selection of quotes available.)
10. “Carpe diem. Seize the day, boys. Make your lives extraordinary.” – Dead Poets Society (my husband does a great whisper on this one.)
So there you have it – just a sampling of the extensive collection of quotes that we use to entertain and amuse ourselves – and anyone else who happens to be nearby. Although our movie-watching since having children is definitely not what it was before, we have seen many movies together over the years.
I hope to see many, many more.
Tell me about your favourite movie quotes in the comments – am I forgetting any?
Linking up with Monday Listicles today

It is hard to believe we are next to each other on the grid. We need to start a club.
Oh, and of course I think your post rocks.

I know – marital quotes, side-by-side on the grid! We *should* start a quote club – now that would be entertaining!
Just keep swimming! That line got me through my husband’s last deployment.

I love that line. It is so simple, but it says it all, doesn’t it?
You have reminded me of an old favorite that I haven’t seen for years. I forgot about how inspiring The Dead Poets’ Society was.

You know, I have never seen Office Space, but I hear about it a lot. I think I am going to have to watch that one of these days! No crying in baseball is definitely one of our faves – it always brings a smile.
I love that scene from When Harry Met Sally…One of my all-time favorite movies! And I completely forgot about Dead Poets Society. That is a great line.

I admit it: I have done that, too.
Oh, yeah. My husband and I have a whole Star Wars routine, too. Even from Robot Chicken’s SW parodies. My husband’s favorite is, “Let it go, Princess.” And although I never saw A League of Their Own, when I used to play hockey and my team lost (which happened often), he’d tell me, “There’s no crying in hockey.” I never did understand what he meant. Haha!

The ‘no crying in baseball’ scene in A League of Their Own is so great – so funny. When my husband and I say it, it always gets a smile.
These are great! That is the best line ever in A League of Their Own.

“What else floats in water?”
“Uh, very small rocks.”
~Monty Python and the Holy Grail
You know, it has been so long since I have seen a Monty Python movie. The only thing I really remember from that movie is them riding their “horses.” However, I just mentioned that to my husband, and he is now saying, “Don’t you remember..?” and quoting the movie. (He is singing Sir Robin Mintrel’s part.) Maybe we will have to watch it again soon.
Such great movies! Love every single one of them!

Thank you. Love that line from Tommy Boy!
When one of us does something dumb, the other one says, “Seven-minute abs!” in the tone of the hitchhiker in There’s Something About Mary. And if the kids aren’t around we do the “Step into my office” bit too.
Oh my – There’s Something About Mary! I forgot about that one – that is a super-quotable one, too!
Love Dory, love Star Wars, love that you share these with your husband.
